The Libya Africa Investment Portfolio (LAIP) received on Sunday, 15 March 2026, at its headquarters in Tripoli, H.E. Mr Amadou Mohamed Othman, Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Libya, accompanied by a delegation that included the Embassy’s First Counsellor and the Ambassador’s Secretary.

The delegation was received by the Chair and members of the High Committee for the Libya Africa Transit Corridors Project.

The meeting formed part of a series of coordination engagements organised by the High Committee with diplomatic missions of countries concerned with the project. These engagements aim to introduce regional stakeholders to the project’s proposed routes, align perspectives on its economic and logistical objectives, and strengthen frameworks for cooperation and coordination.

During the meeting, the Committee delivered a presentation outlining the project’s strategic plans and development dimensions, and provided clarifications in response to inquiries raised by the Nigerien side.

For his part, H.E. the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the significance of the project, affirming his support for the initiative and the commitment of his country’s mission to placing it among its priorities in the context of promoting regional integration and strengthening economic and logistical cooperation between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to begin preparations for a ministerial-level meeting between Libya and Niger, aimed at translating the current understandings into practical steps and agreements that will support the next phase of the project.

The Committee had previously held a meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Niger in May 2025 to introduce the project and its main objectives, marking the beginning of coordination efforts and enhanced cooperation between the two sides.
