LAIP Board approves organisational reforms and authorises joint-stock cement company
The Board of Directors of the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio (LAIP) held its third ordinary meeting of the year on Thursday, 23 July 2026, at its headquarters in Tripoli, where it considered a number of items on the agenda and adopted a series of resolutions.
As part of its efforts to enhance institutional performance, the Board approved amendments to LAIP’s organisational structure to strengthen resource management and promote greater coordination and communication across the organisation.
The Board also approved amendments to LAIP’s Articles of Association and authorised the formation of specialised committees reporting to the Board of Directors.
On the Misurata Cement Factory project, the Board reconstituted the committee overseeing the project and reviewed a study prepared by LAIP’s executive management following a mandate issued at an earlier meeting.
Following its deliberations, the Board authorised the establishment of a joint-stock company specialising in cement manufacturing and marketing. It also instructed the executive management to proceed with the incorporation process in accordance with the decisions taken during the discussion of this item.
As part of its ongoing review of LAIP’s property assets, the Board considered a memorandum on the development of an integrated tourism project on land owned by LAIP along the coastal road in the Ghout Al-Roman area of Tajoura Municipality.
The Board also reviewed a separate memorandum on the construction of a new headquarters on land owned by LAIP within Tajoura Municipality.
In addition, the Board discussed a number of matters relating to LAIP’s subsidiary companies and adopted the necessary resolutions.
The meeting formed part of the Board’s ongoing oversight of LAIP’s organisational and investment activities and reflected its commitment to advancing the organisation’s strategic objectives while ensuring the efficient and effective management of its assets, subsidiaries and projects.
